Ben Collett is a managing director in the Transaction Advisory Services practice, based in the London office. Ben leads the firm’s operational due diligence, restructuring and performance improvement offering. He has over 20 years of experience advising corporates on major operational change and transformation projects focused on profit and working capital improvement—in both underperformance and growth situations.

Ben has particular experience advising clients on:

  • Acquisitions – operations and performance assessment, carve-out and development of post-acquisition integration and performance improvement programs
  • Disposals – carve-out assessment and development of accelerated profit and cash generation programs to improve value ahead of a sale process
  • Turnaround situations – accelerated profit improvement and cash generation programs to return performance back to plan and secure appropriate financing
  • Operational restructuring – manufacturing footprint changes, product transfer, downsizing and closure, new plant setup, merger of operations, operational growth strategy, supply chain and efficiency
  • Profit improvement – transactional profitability analysis (product, customer, channel, sector, etc.), value chain and cost base analysis to support development of direct, indirect and SG&A cost reduction and revenue optimization plans
  • Working capital improvement and cash generation, including process change, control and governance
  • Refinancing support to identify, negotiate and secure required debt facilities
  • Accelerated disposal processes, solvent wind-down and business unit closure

Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Ben was Director of Strategic Projects at IMI PLC, a FTSE 250 global engineering group, where he led cost reduction, operational change, strategic growth and acquisition integration programs. Before this, he was a lead advisor at KPMG where he worked with clients to deliver profit improvement, turnaround and working capital improvements.

Ben has extensive experience working in the manufacturing and engineering sectors as well as oil and gas, food and retail and fast-moving consumer goods. He has worked with a wide range of business types including FTSE 100, PE and owner-managed companies ranging from £10 million to £3 billion turnover.

Ben’s international experience includes work in the U.S., Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, China, India, Malaysia, Dubai, North and South Africa, and Australia. He is a chartered accountant and holds a B.Sc. from the University of London.
